Speaker Biography

Kit Werner PhD, MS, RDN, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics. She completed her Master’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has been employed in multiple and varied professional positions, for example serving as a clinical inpatient and outpatient Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and teaching collegiate food and nutrition courses. She currently serves as the Director for Patient Food and Nutrition Services and the Michigan Medicine Dietetic Internship at the University of Michigan. Kit has been a life-long advocate of educating patients and practitioners to better understand the intricate and dynamic relationship that food and nutrition have upon one’s health. Kit spearheaded the IDDSI task force at Michigan Medicine working to advance health to serve Michigan and the world.


Program Objectives
Assess interdisciplinary education, training, and communication required to implement IDDSI.
Describe the process for implementing IDDSI at a large, tertiary, academic medical center.
Recognize opportunities for continuous quality improvement post IDDSI implementation.
