DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) -- New technology is bringing fresh produce to hospital patients at Lynchburg General Hospital. There is now a hydroponic “micro-farm” inside Lynchburg General Hospital’s cafeteria. This is the first hospital in the entire nation using this sort of technology. Instead of digging in the ground to cultivate this harvest, Tim Schoonmaker, the executive chef for Centra Nutrition Services, can control the lettuce he grows with the tap of his finger.
