The Association for Healthcare Foodservice (AHF) and its members are celebrating AHF’s “Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week^TM” October 4-10, 2020. This year’s theme is "Healthcare Foodservice: Heroes Work Here." This week is set aside annually to honor healthcare food and nutrition professionals in self-operated facilities. We recognize the teams who demonstrate every day why self-operation is the industry’s best practice.

During this week AHF Members and foodservice operators from across the country take this time to honor and recognize their teams for the past year’s efforts. Now more than ever AHF recognizes the need for this recognition. AHF members will honor their teams with branded gifts utilizing the official week’s theme and share what they will do for their teams and stories about their teams going above and beyond utilizing AHF’s official hashtag #HCFSWW2020 and #HeroesWorkHere.

AHF’s incoming President Ryan Conklin, CEC, Director & Executive Chef at UNC REX Healthcare noted in a Presidential letter to members that “Frontline co-workers, dietitians, cooks, cashiers, dishwashers, and beyond are the true heroes of our industry. Healthcare Foodservice never stopped throughout the pandemic. Things had to change, and they had to change quickly. Policies and procedures that would have taken months to change pre-pandemic, were swapped out almost instantly. Our teams adapted, and made it happen for our organizations, they were here when we needed them most. While many industries were asked to stay home, our teams had no choice. They marched forward and came to work every single day to take care of our patients, residents, and co-workers. They risked their own health and safety on a daily basis to take care of others’ needs. They are true HEROES!”
