It is with profound sadness that we share the heart-breaking news of the passing of Lisa Yeung, AHF Member and Leader. Lisa was at the height of her career and leadership journey and consistently demonstrated an unwavering dedication to the industry and left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.

Lisa was an inspirational leader within our industry, receiving many awards and accolades recognizing her dedication to those she served, her passion for the self-operated healthcare foodservice industry, and her vision.

In her role as Director of Food and Nutrition Services at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, Lisa provided thousands of patients, staff, and visitors with the nutrition, care, and support needed during a time when care and compassion is most needed. Going far above and beyond, Lisa built upon the work of her predecessor, fellow AHF Member, Veronica McLymont, to advance the sustainability initiatives of the FANS department and earning the 2023 AHF Sustainability Award for her efforts.

While always humble and gracious, Lisa was frequently recognized for her outstanding accomplishments including receiving the “2023 Woman of Distinction Award” from New York State Assemblywoman Rebecca A. Seawright on May 10, 2023. Lisa was also recognized as one of the “Top 25 Women in Foodservice and Hospitality” by Total Food Service Magazine in April 2023.

Lisa consistently gave back to the professional community as a volunteer leader, serving as the AHF New York Chapter Secretary and on the AHF State of the Industry Report Committee. She also frequently answered the call to speak at professional conferences and to develop professional resources and tools to help advance the industry and add to the collective knowledge base for the healthcare foodservice and hospitality industry. Lisa most recently had been elected by her peers to serve on the 2024 AHF Leadership Development Committee and we are deeply saddened that she will not be able to fulfill her role.

Lisa’s legacy extends beyond her professional and volunteer role; friends and colleagues often noting Lisa’s infectious enthusiasm, contagious smile, and easy-going personality paired with her never ending persistence to better the industry.

On behalf of all AHF Members, chapters, staff and Business Partners, we would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to Lisa’s family during this difficult time. She will be missed.

If you would like to honor Lisa directly, you invite you to visit her memorial website that her family has established in her honor: https://everloved.com/life-of/lisa-yeung/

We are grateful to the AHF New York chapter and Veronica McLymont for their assistance in putting together this remembrance of Lisa; her loss will be deeply felt within the chapter, the greater AHF community, and the industry as a whole.
