AHF Chapters in Action

By Sarah Bennett posted 09-19-2022 13:56

The Association for Healthcare Foodservice is the premier organization for self-operated food management professionals in healthcare and senior dining and the eleven chapters are AHF’s ear-to-the ground, advising the national organization on upcoming trends, industry concerns, and how to provide relevant resources. Each chapter also serves as a pathway to national events, programs, membership, and leadership. Below is just a taste of the many exciting networking events and continuing education opportunities being offered by our chapters:

New York Chapter

This fall, the New York Chapter of AHF is taking a novel approach to the traditional continuing education “meeting.” On September 22nd, chapter members will gather and go on an apple picking excursion, getting in touch with our living food while networking and earning CEUs. The chapter will then be going on a facility tour with a local equipment manufacturer. In addition to these new “out and about” networking/continuing education meetings, the chapter is also working on putting together its second culinary skills sessions in November for its members. Be sure to check out the upcoming events section on the AHF website or the AHF New York Chapter page for more details.

Texas Chapter

The Texas chapter is looking forward to hosting their next meeting on October 21st. The Texas chapter meetings typically cover three distinct topics related to healthcare foodservice. If you are interested in presenting at this or a future chapter meeting or if you know a dynamic speaker, restauranter, or industry leader local to Texas that you would recommend, please reach out to Theresa Nash through the Texas AHF Chapter page TexasAHF.com.

Midwest Chapters: Hoosier-Buckeye, Chicago, Michigan, and Wisconsin

The four Midwest chapters of AHF will be hosting their fall symposium October 5-6, 2022 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Midwest Regional Conference and Vendor Show will cover important topics such as:

  1. Nutrition service ethics
  2. Impact of planning and implementing replacement hospital
  3. Using technology to maximize production efficiency
  4. And much more…

The Midwest chapters will host on evening networking reception on October 5th followed by a full day of continuing education on October 6th. To learn more about this first-ever, four-chapter AHF symposium, visit the chapters page of the AHF website and select the Michigan Chapter or click here to register.

Purdue University Student Chapter

AHF’s first student chapter at Purdue University’s goal is to provide career development seminars, community service experiences, and networking opportunities related to healthcare foodservice. Last month, Purdue student chapter president and vice president Macy Floro and Kiersten Jewell joined AHF National in Scottsdale, Arizona as the 2022 Conference interns helping with registration and continuing education sessions. Be sure to follow @ahfpurdue on Instagram to learn more about all of the officers of this amazing student chapter, and if you haven’t already done so, be sure to also follow @ahf_national!
